Disney World in October 2026 (Weather, Crowd Expectations, and Details)
October is a fairly busy month at Walt Disney World, depending on when you visit. This month usually brings the first hint of cooler weather, school break crowds, and the Walt Disney World Wine and Dine Half-Marathon. It’s a wonderful month to visit.
If you’re visiting this month, you’ll get to see the autumn decor at Magic Kingdom. It stays up through Halloween. If your dates are flexible and you’re able to visit for an extended time, you might consider a cross-season visit between October and November. It’s fun to see how things change from Fall to Christmas.
This guide has been updated for 2026 pending news and announcements that will be made at a later date. We’ll provide those updates below as they are announced. Halloween details are generally released about halfway to Halloween. We anticipate knowing more after Easter and before mid-May.

The Weather in October
Regarding the weather in October, it varies. You can expect hot days in the low 90s to cooler evenings in the 70s. It’s still hurricane season, which means you’ll want to keep an eye on the weather. Rain showers will likely remain part of the forecast, but you might not have the daily afternoon rain shower every day of your vacation. Of course, we can’t predict the weather. These tips are only from our experience, both visiting and living in the area.
October also means the sun will be setting a little earlier each day. This might affect showtimes for the nighttime parade and fireworks at Magic Kingdom. If seeing these things is important to you, you’ll want to check the schedule beforehand. For example, the fireworks might be offered at 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. in the summer months, then shift back to 8:00 or 8:30 in the fall and winter. These times can easily be checked in the My Disney Experience app (entertainment section) on the day of your visit.
Crowds in October
October is generally a fairly busy month at Walt Disney World. Crowds tend to arrive for Fall break during the first two weeks of the month, with peak levels around Columbus Day, which falls on Monday, October 12, 2026. Anytime you have a long holiday weekend, it’s safe to expect higher-than-average crowds.
As mentioned above, the runDisney Wine and Dine Half-Marathon weekend is one of the busier weekends of the year. If you’re visiting during this time, you can expect an influx of guests who will be participating in various runs throughout the weekend. Epcot typically opens slightly later on runDisney weekends. We’ll have more details about park hours in our timeline below as they are posted.
Halloween falls on a Saturday in 2026. It’s a coin toss on whether or not the parks will be busy. We enjoy participating in some of the trick-or-treat trails hosted by the resorts on Halloween. It’s always fun to see what a few resorts have to offer. This is also an excellent opportunity for children to dress up and for everyone to enjoy a laid-back evening around the resorts.
As mentioned in the previous two months, you’ll want to be aware of evenings when Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is hosted at Magic Kingdom. The park closes at 6:00 p.m. to the general public on these select evenings. There are advantages and disadvantages when visiting the Magic Kingdom on a party date. As far as negatives, the park closes early. So if this is your only day at Magic Kingdom, we recommend choosing a non-party date. It would be a shame not to see the fireworks or explore the park after sunset. That said, if you have more than one day to spend at Magic Kingdom or have the park-hopper ticket, you might prefer to take advantage of lower crowds on a party date. While there are no guarantees, the party dates tend to be significantly slower at Magic Kingdom because not everyone is willing to burn their ticket on a day when the park closes early.
