Typhoon Lagoon Refillable Mugs (Beverages, Refill Stations, & Value)
If you visit Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon (or Blizzard Beach), you can purchase a refillable mug. This option is unique and works somewhat differently from the resort refillable mugs. Below, we’ll discuss the ins and outs of purchasing a Rapid Fill Mug at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. We’ll also discuss what types of beverages are available, beverage refill stations, and whether or not they’re worth it.
Below is an example of the mug design from a previous water park season. The designs tend to change every couple of years. This one features Mickey on one side with Buttons at Blizzard Beach. Minnie Mouse is on the opposite side, wearing heart sunglasses with Ice Gator and Duncan the Parrot (from Miss Adventure Falls). The mugs have handles and a built-in straw. So, it’s a win-win if you prefer to drink from a straw because the water parks do not typically offer disposable straws.
How Disney Water Parks Operate
It’s important to note that Disney’s water parks operate on a rotational schedule. Blizzard Beach is typically open between early November and March, and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is open between March and November. You’ll want to check the exact hours and availability for your visit.
Rapid Fill Mugs are available throughout the water park. Guests can enjoy fountain drink refills at any self-service beverage location within the park or Blizzard Beach. At the time of this update, the Rapid Fill refillable sipper is $12.99 and includes refills for the entirety of the day. If you return to the park on a subsequent day, you can bring your mug and reactivate it for $8.50. (Prices for the mugs are listed in the Leaning Palms menu section of the My Disney Experience app. You can place a mobile order for them from the app or purchase them at the register.)
Is Typhoon Lagoon’s Rapid Fill Mug Worth It?
Since moving to the area, we have visited Typhoon Lagoon regularly. In the past, I never purchased a mug. But now I have one and take it with me on most visits. I often visit the park for a few hours near the end of the day. On those days, I carry a cold soda or two in my bag and leave them in a locker with my mug. When I want a drink, I fill my mug with ice and refill it with my can of soda to avoid paying the activation fee.
However, I pay to activate and use my mug when we’re at the water park for extended periods. I always refill it before leaving for the ride back home. Fountain drinks cost nearly $5.00. So, if you visit for one day and use the mug at least three times, it’s worth the cost. You’ll also have a fun souvenir to take home with you. But if you don’t use the mug more than a time or two, you’re probably better off purchasing a regular soda.
Fountain drinks include Coca-Cola products like Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Barq’s Root Beer, Sprite Zero, Minute Maid Lemonade Zero Sugar, Powerade, Sprite, Diet Coke, and Coca-Cola. Some machines also have Gold Peak Ice Tea. Additionally, a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine is available on the side of Typhoon Tilly’s. It has a larger selection of beverages, including Vitamin Water.
Beverage Refill Stations at Typhoon Lagoon
Below, we’ll look at where you can refill your Rapid Fill mugs at Typhoon Lagoon. While mugs are sold at most kiosks, there are only a few places to refill them throughout the park.
Happy Landings and Leaning Palms
Happy Landings is the park’s primary ice cream treat shop. It’s immediately past Leaning Palms and sits along Castaway Creek, the lazy river. A refill station sits in front of Happy Landings. You can refill your mug here if you’re dining at Leaning Palms. (The station is shared between the two quick services.)
Tropical Amity Outpost
Tropical Amity Outpost sits next to the Crush ‘n’ Gusher pool. If you’re near the locker and restroom area at the front of the park, this refill station sits on the opposite side. This is where I usually refill my drink at the end of the day.
Surf Doggies
If you’re near Typhoon Lagoon’s Surf Pool or the poolside bar, you’ll find a refill station at the end of Surf Doggies. Surf Doggies is a stand that sells hot dogs, among other things.
Lowtide Lou’s
Guests toward the back of the park near the falls (water slides) and Ketchakiddee Creek will want to take advantage of the refill station at Lowtide Lou’s. Lou’s is always open, but the beverage area is available for guests with refillable mugs.
Snack Shack
Lastly, a Coke Free Style machine sits on the side of the Snack Shack near Typhoon Tilly’s. This machine will have more options. But since it’s a single machine, sometimes you’ll encounter a line. When you walk past Miss Adventure Falls, you’ll run directly into this beverage station on the right. Just keep walking, and you’ll see it before you reach the entrance to the Snack Shack.
The Resorts Gal Spin on Refillable Mugs at Typhoon Lagoon
We give refill mugs the green light. Most guests will use them enough to get the value out of them. If you have a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack, you’ll likely have used it three times, which should be enough to cover the cost. We like to keep ours in the locker until we need it. Of course, if you’ve read any of our articles about the water parks, you know that renting a locker at Typhoon Lagoon is one of our non-negotiables. You might also purchase and share one based on your comfort level when sharing a drink with a loved one.
Final Thoughts
I hope this article helped you decide whether or not to purchase a refillable mug at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. One last tip: Most refill stations constantly spray a mist. I assume this is to help detour bees. So, if you’re looking for a place to refill your mug like an oasis in the desert, look for the mist.
