Seasonal Closing Date Announced for Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park in 2026
Walt Disney World has announced a seasonal closing date for Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. The park will temporarily close starting September 9, 2026. This comes after the final date of Cool Kids Summer and the complimentary water park ticket for resort guests on their arrival day, both of which end on September 8th. Here is the official wording from the water park’s website:
Starting September 9, 2026, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park will temporarily close. During this time, we encourage Guests to enjoy Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park.
Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World previously announced that the complimentary water park ticket for resort guests will return for select dates in 2027. Unfortunately, the campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness will be excluded from the offer next year. We have a separate guide that discusses how to take advantage of free water park admission at Disney World if you would like to know more. We think it’s a great opportunity if you can make it work with your plans. The guide mentioned above offers a few tips and suggestions.
The good news is that when one water park closes, another one remains open. While Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is closed, Blizzard Beach will remain open as weather permits. Occasionally, the water parks close for unseasonably cold weather. For example, this last year, Central Florida experienced cold weather that caused the water park to close more often than usual.
If tradition stands, Blizzard Beach will likely remain open through the end of the year, with Typhoon Lagoon reopening at some point in 2027. At that time, Blizzard Beach will likely close for a refurbishment, with both parks opening simultaneously for the summer season. Of course, other than the September 9th closing date for Typhoon Lagoon this fall, no dates are written in stone. Check back with ResortsGal.com for more updates.
