Photos: Band Leader Mickey Mouse Performs with Main Street Philharmonic
Over the past few months, band leader Mickey Mouse has been surprising guests by making special appearances with the Main Street Philharmonic. For reference, the Magic Kingdom band performs most days of the week. You can typically find them on the left side of the hub in front of Cinderella Castle. Their times are listed in the My Disney Experience app. We used the search feature and entered “Main Street Philharmonic” to find their showtimes on the day of this visit.
It is important to note that band leader Mickey is a rare character, and there is no guarantee of his appearance. On the day of our visit, I was taking some photos of the castle while I waited to see if Mickey would come out with the band. The band appeared at 12:00 p.m. and began playing in the hub. At this point, I was standing directly in front of the castle, and I could see a small glimpse of Mickey’s red outfit near the castle’s entrance. (The castle was still closed off at the time from the last castle stage show.) Mickey came out at 12:07 p.m. and joined the band.

After Mickey joined the band, they played a few songs for the crowd. Then Mickey took the time to interact with some of the guests in the crowd. This was mainly a quick hug or high-five, and a few guests who had their phones ready were able to snap a quick photo with Mickey. The rest of the band interacted with guests while Mickey worked the crowd.

Here’s Mickey now as he passed by a younger guest who must have been feeling a little bit intimidated.

He soon made his way to our area for a few hugs.

After they finished, Mickey led the band in a round of everyone’s favorite: the Hot Dog Song! You know the one, Hot Dog, Hot Dog, Hot Diggity Dog!

Shortly thereafter, Mickey made his way back up to the castle. I was in the park for a while that day, and walked by two of the band’s other performances. I didn’t see Mickey Mouse at either of those showtimes. A cast member told us that this was a surprise and delight appearance, so there are no guarantees.

If you would like to attempt to see band leader Mickey Mouse, my best advice is to check out the earliest showtime. In our experience, he came out about 7 minutes after the band’s 12:00 showtime. So he might not be there immediately when the show first begins.
