Photos: Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Construction Update (June 2026)
It’s been over six months since we last provided a photo update of the construction progress of Lakeshore Lodge. We sailed by the site on a recent visit to Disney’s Fort Wilderness to check out what had changed. Of course, if you’re visiting Magic Kingdom, you can clearly see the new hotel from the monorail. It is highly visible in the area right before the monorail enters (or exits) the Contemporary on the Transportation and Ticket Center side of the resort.
You can also see the resort from various viewpoints at the Contemporary. Here is a look at the hotel from the Skyway bridge, which connects Bay Lake Tower and the Contemporary. While this is only mildly zoomed in, you can tell that the resort is going to be massive.

How massive? The Disney Vacation Club Resort will offer 967 rooms ranging from studios to suites. In addition to those accommodations, there will be lake houses sitting on the waterfront. Those lakehouses have started to come together in the last month or so. Note that you do not have to be a DVC member to stay here.

Here is a view of how the lakehouses sit on the shores of the former Clementine’s Beach at the Fort Wilderness.

Of course, at this time, the construction fence and ongoing work are a bit of an eyesore. It will be interesting to see how this entire landscape looks when everything is finished and the walls come down.

While I don’t love that it feels like the resort is sitting atop the Settlement area, I am looking forward to staying here. Earlier this week, Disney revealed that the resort’s recreation area will be called the Wetlands. It’s going to feature a lazy river, dry and aquatic play areas for children, and a zero-entry pool with a spiral water slide. We shared details and concept art for the new pool area here in case you missed it.

Here is a view of Lakeshore Lodge taken from the corner of the Settlement that’s home to Crockett’s Tavern and the arcade.

You may remember this area was a gray, concrete color on our last visit. It’s now a subtle sage color.

Here is a view from a little further down the Settlement.

The resort’s front entrance will sit near the Settlement bus stop. It looks as though bus bays have been installed in front of the resort. You have to zoom in to the left on the photo below to see them. It will be interesting to see how transportation works when everything is completed.

We’ll hop on a boat for a view from the water.

Here’s a little closer view.

We can see where the resort’s boat dock is being constructed along the lake. We are hopeful that a resort-to-resort boat service will be available all day when the resort opens. The current resort-to-resort service in this area runs after 3:00 p.m. until approximately 10:45 p.m.

Overall, things are coming along at Lakeshore Lodge. The resort is expected to open sometime in the summer of 2027. Check back with ResortsGal.com for more updates!
