Find Characters Roaming the New Walt Disney Studios Lot at Hollywood Studios This Summer
If you have plans to meet characters at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this summer, you might find a few fun character interactions in the newly opened Walt Disney Studios Lot. This area of the park is now open, and it’s bustling with characters most of the day.
However, it’s important to mention that only the Animation Courtyard area has opened at this time. Later this summer, the new Magic of Disney Animation will open. At that time, a new character experience called Off the Page will open. So if you’re visiting after the Magic of Disney Animation opens, these characters may have moved inside. Except for Donald Duck, they were all included in a list shared by Disney of characters that will appear in Off the Page.
Walt Disney Studios Lot Characters
We’ve walked through this area a couple of times now, and on each visit, we’ve seen at least 5-6 characters entertaining guests. For instance, the photo below shows Donald Duck with The Record Setters, a group of entertainers who often perform in the park.
On our last visit, we found Goofy and Stitch sitting on one of the lawns playing Duck, Duck, Goose with a few more than eager participants. This was such a fun interaction to watch, and it’s worth noting that the characters did an incredible job playing along.
Pluto was making his rounds around the Lot. From what we could tell, he seems to keep moving, but will stop for photos when asked nicely.
Chip and Dale had found a nice spot in the shade. They were playing some pretty challenging games of charades with guests when we visited.
Perhaps the most popular of the characters was Rapunzel and Mulan. Rapunzel can often be found seated with guests on the lawn toward the back of the courtyard. As you can see from the photo below, it was almost like stepping into an animated film for playtime with your favorite princess.
When Rapunzel is not out visiting with guests, we often find Mulan in the same area. She was kind enough to pose for a photo, but she usually interacts with guests in the same manner as Rapunzel.
Final Thoughts
Overall, these were some of the most endearing interactions we’ve seen with characters in the parks. As you may know, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is one of the best places to meet characters at Disney World. The park is known for offering a unique lineup featuring classic characters, Pixar characters, and surprise pop-ups! You never know who you’re going to meet here! We hope that when these characters do move inside, the courtyard will not be completely vacated. As you can see from the photos, there is definitely a demand for more of these types of interactions!
