Disney’s Boardwalk June 2026 Refurbishment Update (What’s Happening Now)
If you’ve visited Disney’s BoardWalk in recent years, you’ve likely been aware of a long-term ongoing refurbishment. Between a new restaurant, fresh siding, updated rooms, and more, the resort has seen an extensive amount of upgrades. That said, the last five years or so have also brought several closures to other small shops that called the BoardWalk home.
On a couple of recent visits to the BoardWalk, I was a little surprised to see so much construction actively taking place. So I thought we’d do a photo walk-through for our Boardwalk fans. These photos were all taken in early June. As a reminder, with construction work, things can change from day to day.

For this visit, I was taking a walk from Disney’s Hollywood Studios to the BoardWalk. As I approached the side of the resort, I could see that a new path had been freshly poured near the small lawn with the gazebo.

Here is a view looking back toward the resort from the walkway.

Next, we noticed that the former Jellyrolls was completely fenced. A dumpster sat outside the fenced area, collecting debris.

Disney hasn’t formally announced what will become of this location, but if I were to guess, we should know something more soon.

As you can see, the fencing continues around the front of the former piano bar that closed in April of 2025.

We also noticed some fencing on the opposite side of the BoardWalk.

I thought this was an interesting spot. Perhaps some of the planks needed to be replaced? That said, the majority of the planks were replaced in recent years.

Here’s a closer look.

Back across the way at the former Jellyrolls, you can see where the storefront has been completely stripped to the framework. I don’t know about you, but I’m hopeful that a new quick-service or exceptionally casual dining option will go in at least one of these locations.

By one of these locations, I am referring to the former Jellyrolls and the former Big River Grille. This restaurant closed a few years ago, leaving a vacant space on the BoardWalk.

There is also a vacant space that was formerly home to the Promenade Fine Art Gallery. The art gallery closed in October of 2025.

As a reminder, here is the resort refurbishment schedule for the current work being completed at Disney’s BoardWalk:
Now through late 2026, refurbishment work will take place in select areas of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. While Guests may see or hear work during daytime hours, most Resort amenities—including dining, recreation, and merchandise locations—will remain available.
Â
From January 11, 2027, through April 2027, the Luna Park Pool, the Luna Park Crazy Play Area and Leaping Horse Libations at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas will be closed for routine maintenance. Guests may see and hear work taking place during daytime hours. However, the Villas Pool and the Inn Pool will remain open for Guests to enjoy.
Â
The Disney Skyliner will be closed for routine refurbishment January 24–30, 2027. During this time, complimentary bus transportation will be available.
Overall, it’s good to see active work taking place on some of the vacant storefronts. We’re excited to see what new additions Disney will reveal for the BoardWalk! Check back with Resorts Gal soon for the latest around the resorts!
