Walt Disney World Railroad Will Temporarily Close This Fall
The Walt Disney World Railroad is scheduled to temporarily close for refurbishment this Fall. Per Disney’s operating schedule, Main Street Station and Fantasyland Station will close beginning September 28, 2026. Service is expected to return on October 30th.
Disney has not provided a reason for the upcoming closure, so we’re not clear on what work will take place during this time. You may remember that Frontierland Station has been closed since July of 2025, already leaving the railroad operating on a modified schedule as a shuttle between Main Street, U.S.A. and Fantasyland. That modification is expected to remain in place for the foreseeable future as construction progresses on the new Villains and Cars areas of Magic Kingdom.

Unfortunately, this temporary closure will affect some of the prime weeks of fall break in early October. If you’re visiting Disney World in October, you’ll want to be aware that the Magic Kingdom train will not be available. The Walt Disney World Railroad is a unique attraction because it serves as both an experience and a convenient way to travel around Magic Kingdom.
For now, the published schedule has the railroad returning to operation on October 30, 2026. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and update this article if Disney provides additional information about the closure or changes the anticipated reopening date.
