Disney Announces Annual Closing Date for Blizzard Beach Water Park in 2025
Disney has announced that Blizzard Beach’s water park season will end on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. That will be the last day to visit the park before its closure. Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is scheduled to reopen on Monday, May 1st.
Update: Disney has announced that both water parks will remain open this summer from May 21st through September 7th!

In addition to this announcement, Disney announced that Blizzard Beach would have a month-long celebration starting April 1st for the park’s 30th anniversary. We covered the details Disney shared for the 30th anniversary celebration in a separate article.
While we mentioned this in the previous article, it’s important to note that both parks will not resume simultaneous operations this summer unless something changes. Since the pandemic, Disney has operated its water parks rotationally. When one water park closes, another one opens. Before 2020, both water parks were open year-round, each closing at separate times for a 2-month refurbishment. (For reference, Blizzard Beach reopened last Fall on Monday, November 4, 2024.)
You might know that a new water park benefit debuted in early 2025 for Disney Resort Hotel guests. Per Disney, guests can enjoy complimentary access to a water park (based on availability) on their check-in day in 2025. If you intend to use this benefit, you’ll want to check which park will be operational during your stay.
Sadly, with one park open at a time, you can expect crowds, especially if you’re visiting between early March and August. We spent many late afternoons at Typhoon Lagoon last summer that were packed. It had become the norm to arrive after lunch and find the entire overflow parking lot almost full.
We hope that eventually both parks will open simultaneously and for longer hours in the hotter months of the year. Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is one of our favorite hangouts. We enjoy the park’s relaxed vibe. But those with little ones might prefer the fun theming of Blizzard Beach. Unfortunately, at this time, your choice will be limited to which park is open when you visit. For more on the park, you might enjoy our entire guide:
