Disney’s Ale and Compass Breakfast Enhancement Quietly Disappears from the Menu
If you’re a longtime fan of breakfast at Ale and Compass, you’ll be sad to learn that the breakfast enhancement option has been removed from the menu. You may remember that earlier this week, Disney announced new menu items for Ale and Compass. That change caused us to take a closer look at the menu. A second look revealed no mention of the breakfast buffet that was previously served as an accompaniment to an entree.
The former menu offered guests the option to upgrade their entree with this special enhancement. On our last visit, the menu read that the buffet offered, “seasonal fruit, assorted yogurt parfaits, assorted breakfast pastries, house-made granola, cheddar biscuits with country gravy, and warm cinnamon rolls.” That entire section of the online menu has now disappeared.

Anyone who reads this site regularly knows that we are big fans of the breakfast at Ale and Compass, particularly the chocolate waffles. While I’m glad the waffles remain on the menu along with a good variety of other entrees, it’s disheartening to see the upgrade removed. It was a great value for anyone wanting to enjoy a leisurely, paced breakfast or brunch inside the restaurant. In fact, it’s the only restaurant that I can think of that provided such a unique offering.
Some of the items that were formerly on the buffet are now listed on the regular menu. For instance, you can now order a basket of Danish pastries for $10.00, which comes with cinnamon rolls, fruit danish, and assorted mini muffins. You can also order a continental fruit parfait for $10.00. I don’t know about you, but those sound like pretty steep prices to me, even for Disney.

Final Thoughts
Overall, it’s always a disappointment to see extras removed. Fans of Disney’s Yacht Club likely remember that Ale and Compass was formerly the Captain’s Grille. While that location offered a few entrees, it was predominantly a buffet, a very popular buffet.
Moving forward, if you have plans to enjoy breakfast at Ale and Compass, remember that the former buffet likely won’t be an option. If this news is a disappointment, you might like to provide feedback to a chef at the restaurant or a manager at the hotel.
For the meantime, Ale and Compass continues to remain on our list of top hotel restaurants at Disney World. For more on dining, see our list of Disney World Dining Options. Check back with ResortsGal.com for more updates!
