Typhoon Lagoon Reopening Date Announced for January 2027

Walt Disney World’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will reopen on January 27, 2027, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy the tropical-themed water park once again! You may remember the water park closed on September 9th for its annual refurbishment after Cool Kid Summer ended.

In the meantime, Blizzard Beach Water Park remains open and will continue welcoming guests through January 26, 2027. When Typhoon Lagoon reopens the following day, Blizzard Beach will close for refurbishment. Below, we’ll look at what’s changing and share a few helpful reminders for guests planning to visit either water park.

Both Water Parks Will Return To Their Seasonal Schedule

For much of the year, Walt Disney World typically operates one water park at a time, with Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach alternating seasons. However, in recent years, Disney has opened both water parks simultaneously during the summer months. This was the case in both 2025 and 2026, when Disney brought both water parks back for the summer season.

We expect that same summer arrangement to return in 2027. Disney has already confirmed that eligible Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests will once again receive complimentary water park admission on their check-in day during select summer dates. The exact dates for this benefit have not yet been announced. We’ll share more details as they become available. Overall, we are happy to see Typhoon Lagoon return in late January. While we enjoy Blizzard Beach and think it’s ideal for those traveling with younger kids, Typhoon Lagoon will always be our personal favorite water park. We love its tropical vibe, incredible theming, and, well, you’ll likely find me sitting at the back of the wave pool whenever I can catch a break!
