New Bus Stop at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Is Now Open
As of today, the new bus stop at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is now open. This opening serves as another milestone reached in the significant exterior refurbishment taking place at the resort. It’s also good news for guests. They will no longer have to deal with the hassle of coming and going at the busy entrance of the Great Ceremonial House, which has served as a temporary bus stop in recent months.
As you can see in the photo below, the bus stop location has not changed. It’s in the same area as before. The bus stop sits within about 50 feet of the Great Ceremonial House. However, a few things have changed. For starters, a new path was poured that separates the bus loading zones from the parking lot. This special loop is for buses only.

Additionally, bus drivers now use the resort’s former entrance when coming and going. You may remember that a new entrance opened at the Polynesian last December. Since the new entrance opened, the former entrance is now for buses and service vehicles only. It will be a much smoother process for buses to enter the resort since drivers won’t have to deal with regular guest traffic.
As far as service goes, the Polynesian’s new bus stop offers three loading zones with transportation to the following destinations:
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Disney Springs
It’s important to note that this bus stop serves both the Polynesian and the Island Tower. The Island Tower does not have a separate bus stop. We have a walkthrough that shows the distance to the bus stop from the Island Tower, in case you’re curious.
For those unfamiliar, you can walk, boat, or monorail from the Polynesian to the Magic Kingdom. For Epcot, you will need to take the monorail from the Transportation and Ticket Center. You can access the TTC by walking to it from the Polynesian or taking the resort monorail loop around.

Typically, the Polynesian shares a bus service with Disney’s Grand Floridian. However, you may remember that as of today, Seven Seas Lagoon now dead-ends at the Polynesian’s new entrance. Given the new dead end, it seems like it will be difficult for the two resorts to continue sharing a bus service at this time. So I would anticipate some changes in how the bus service operates moving forward.
In case you’re wondering, most of the deluxe resorts share bus services with other resorts. With today being the first day of this change, we’ll give things a month or so to settle down before tracking the new routes. Then, we’ll circle back and provide an update on how things work.
Overall, it’s a positive that the new bus stop is now in service. For more on transportation at the resort, see our guide to Polynesian Transportation Options. Or you might also like to learn more about transportation at Disney World. Check back with ResortsGal.com for more updates.
