Table Service Restaurants at Disney World (List + Overview)
Most guests will want to plan a few table service restaurants for their Walt Disney World vacation. Table service restaurants range from standard options to character signature dining experiences. For this guide, we’ll focus on casual table service restaurants across the parks and the resorts. If you’re looking to learn more about a specific type of table service restaurant, it would be better to consult our specific guides. For instance, we have a guide to character dining at Disney World that shares a list of every character meal location, an overview of what to expect, and the characters that meet at each meal. We also have a signature dining guide that focuses on our rankings for the best fine dining options at Disney World. Lastly, we have a list of the best restaurants at Disney Springs that combine table and quick service options at the venue.
When it comes to table service dining, it’s important to note that most Disney restaurants take walk-ups based on availability. However, Disney recommends securing advanced dining reservations (ADR’s) whenever possible. For what it’s worth, you will probably not be able to walk up to any character meals on a whim, and Disney Springs can be very difficult on the weekends. That said, many (not all) of the hotel restaurants can accommodate last-minute walk-ups.
Per Disney, here’s what you need to know for making ADR’s:
- Guests with a Valid Disney Resort Hotel Reservation: Make reservations for your entire length of stay (up to a 10-night stay) up to 60 days before your arrival!
- All Other Guests: Make reservations up to 60 days in advance. (If you’re staying off-site, you must do this day by day.)
- At approximately 6:00 a.m. daily, new reservation booking windows become available for select Walt Disney World restaurants.
Our best tip for making ADR’s is to use the My Disney Experience app for most locations. However, we exclusively use a website/app called OpenTable to make reservations at the following locations: All Disney Springs Restaurants, All Restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and the Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk. (The MDE app will work fine for these locations, but OpenTable always has much better availability.)
When you arrive at a table service restaurant, you need to check in. If you have location services turned on and notifications allowed, you’ll receive a message on your phone to let you check in. This will happen when you get close enough to the restaurant for the service to detect your arrival. If you have any special celebrations or food allergies, you will enter them in the app at this time. (The app will prompt you to do so.) If you prefer, you can also check in at the podium.
Those who don’t have a reservation can check the walk-up list in the My Disney Experience app or at the podium. Most table service restaurants only seat guests until 2:00 p.m. for lunch. I have found that the walk-up lists tend to show at capacity by about 1:30 p.m. However, I nearly always get seated if I am physically near the restaurant and request a table.
