A Review of Brunch at Disney’s Grand Floridian Cafe
We recently visited the Grand Floridian to enjoy a late morning breakfast at the resort’s casual table service restaurant. In this review of brunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe, we’ll share the details of our experience. As a reminder, if you’re visiting in the near future, you’ll want to remember that the restaurant is temporarily closing. The Grand Floridian Cafe closes on July 20th for a refurbishment expected to last through sometime in October. During the closure, the brunch service will still be available at Citricos, which is on the 2nd floor of the resort’s lobby. We imagine there will be some sort of notice posted outside the restaurant, making guests aware of the temporary location.
For this meal, I was joined by my sister and nephew, who were both excited for a return visit to the Grand Floridian Cafe. It’s worth noting that when we were planning this trip, it was the one place that they both wanted to repeat from their last vacation. Soon after we arrived, a cast member delivered a platter of freshly baked biscuits with regular butter and orange butter. The orange butter is a real treat if you enjoy the citrus-y flavor.

Traditional Eggs Benedict
We’ll start with the traditional Eggs Benedict. This dish is described as two poached eggs, Canadian bacon, and hollandaise on a toasted English muffin, served with a marinated tomato salad. My sister actually ordered the Floridian-style Eggs Benedict, but in a bit of a mix-up, our server accidentally put these down instead. So we ended up with two orders of Eggs Benedict.
As far as taste, these were okay, but I personally don’t care for hollandaise sauce. So I’m probably not the best judge when it comes to this particular dish. You may remember in our last Grand Floridian Cafe breakfast review that I tried the smoked salmon Florentine Benedict. I didn’t care for them either.

Floridian-style Eggs Benedict
Next, we have my sister’s order of Floridian-style Eggs Benedict. This dish is described as two poached eggs, corn cakes, pulled pork, and a poblano hollandaise served with marinated tomato salad. As you can see from the photo below, we substituted the salad for the cheese-y hash brown casserole, which is always delicious.
Surprisingly, I enjoyed this version of Eggs Benedict. It was a much more flavorful sauce, and the corn cakes were a fun spin on a traditional classic. My sister said this was something she would order again on a return visit.

Breakfast Sandwich
After much deliberation, I ordered the breakfast sandwich. This was another new menu item since our last visit. It was described as a house-made sausage patty, over easy egg, arugula, roasted red peppers, pickled onion, garlic aïoli, and whipped goat cheese on house-made Ciabatta served with Cafe signature fries.
Where do I start with this? The sandwich was huge, and the sausage patty was more the size of a hamburger than a breakfast sausage. Overall, the combination of ingredients was a success, but I felt like the actual sausage I received was a little under-seasoned. The meat tasted bland. I would have preferred something with a fresh fennel bite and a little more heat.

The steak-style fries were a huge bonus. This was a filling meal that I couldn’t finish. The pictures really don’t do the size justice. It’s more of a fork-and-knife kind of sandwich than something you would want to pick up and eat.

Mickey-shaped Waffle
My nephew went with the Mickey waffle served with bacon. I think we can all agree that it’s hard to go wrong with a freshly prepared, oversized Mickey Mouse waffle. He enjoyed his meal and was especially happy that Aunt Amber photographed his plate first, so he didn’t have to wait long.

Final Thoughts
Overall, we enjoyed our brunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe. We consider it a timeless place to enjoy a meal, whether it’s breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner. We also love that the restaurant combines both breakfast and lunch items on its menu. So if you visit at 12:00 p.m. and want breakfast, you’ll have options. Likewise, if you visit at 10:00 a.m., you can order a burger with fries. This accommodation alone makes a meal here worth it for most families.
