Copper Creek Villas Review (A DVC Resort at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge)

Copper Creek Villas and Cabins is one of two Disney Vacation Club Resorts at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Accommodations range from deluxe studios to two-bedroom lakeside cabins. This review shares the details of our stay in a deluxe studio at Copper Creek. We’ll discuss amenities, pools, dining, and transportation options.

Copper Creek Villas is the second Disney World Villa Resort at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Boulder Ridge Villas is the resort’s original vacation club. Copper Creek opened in 2017 and is comprised of a variety of studios and cabins.

A Note on Copper Creek Villas

Disney’s Deluxe Villa Resorts, like Copper Creek, operate differently from regular resorts. When reservations open, Disney’s Vacation Club members have a first choice of rooms. However, Disney also makes these studios and villas available for regular guests to rent. So, you do not have to be a DVC member to rent one of these units. These units can be reserved through Disney, a travel agent, or an online DVC resale site. Check-in for all villa resorts is at 4:00 p.m., and check-out is at 11:00 a.m.

It is also important to note that housekeeping works differently at villa resorts for DVC members or guests staying on rented DVC points. Per Disney:

  • Rooms at other Disney Deluxe Villas will receive daily full housekeeping service unless you are using Disney Vacation Club Member Points or a Member Cash Discount.
  • If you are a Disney Vacation Club Member staying at a Disney Vacation Club Resort using Member Points or a Member Cash Discount, you will receive trash and towel service on the fourth day of your visit. If you are staying more than 8 nights, you will receive full cleaning service on the fourth day of your visit and trash and towel service on the eighth day of your visit. Villa Resorts like Copper Creek often work better for guests due to the extra amenities that aren’t found in standard guest rooms. At the bare minimum, deluxe studios have a kitchenette and slightly larger square footage than a standard guest room. However, some villas are as large as full cabins or bungalows on the water.

As you can imagine, these types of units are comparable to renting a condo that provides the conveniences and amenities of a home. However, they often come with a higher price tag. Copper Creek Villas and Cabins offer the following types of accommodations:

  • Deluxe Studio
  • One-Bedroom Villas
  • Two-Bedroom Villas
  • Three-Bedroom Villas
  • Two-Bedroom Cascade Cabins

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is a deluxe resort situated on Bay Lake in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area. Therefore, guests of Copper Creek Villas will have access to all the resort’s amenities in addition to villa resort amenities. The most notable of these amenities is the resort’s location. While you can’t walk to Magic Kingdom Park from the Wilderness Lodge, it’s only a short boat or bus ride away.

Resort guests are privy to the early morning theme park benefit extended to all Walt Disney World Resort guests. Additionally, guests of deluxe and deluxe villa resorts have access to the extended evening benefit offered typically twice a week.

Copper Creek Villas is connected to the resort’s main Lobby. If you look at the picture below you might notice the American flag displayed toward the center. The flag is centered over the resort’s lobby. All rooms to the left of the flag are part of Copper Creek Villas. All rooms to the right are part of the Wilderness Lodge Resort Hotel.

It eventually pours out into Bay Lake. This entire space is exceptionally charming. The rooms in the photo below are all resort-view or water-view rooms.

The few times we’ve stayed at Copper Creek, we’ve always ended up on the ground floor with a patio. If you plan on spending a reasonable amount of time on your balcony, you might prefer a higher floor. However, we enjoyed the ground-floor rooms during both of our stays. But after our stay in a king-size resort view room at the Wilderness Lodge, I think I will request a higher floor.

A few outdoor entrances are available on the lower level of Copper Creek. If you wind up on an upper floor, familiarize yourself with these. It’s much easier to take an elevator down and use these entrances to access the pool, boats, and Geyser Point.

Copper Creek Villas Deluxe Studio

Our last stay at Copper Creek Villas was in a deluxe studio. The main differences between this room and standard accommodations are the bed situation and the added kitchenette area. If you were to reserve a standard room at the Wilderness Lodge, it would not be comparable to this one. This unit sleeps up to four adults.

Most resorts now have platform beds, which allow for an extra place to store luggage underneath. It’s always nice to get those extras out of the way when staying in a hotel room. The solid surface floors are also a nice touch.

Having these extra items can be beneficial for a variety of reasons. Some might be on a strict budget or diet and prefer to make meals in the room when possible. Many families use these spaces to prepare breakfast before heading out to the parks. The microwave is nice for reheating leftovers.

A pull-out pantry offers plenty of storage for snacks and other staples. Additionally, you’ll find a coffee maker, a toaster, and a sink.

Below is the room’s mini-refrigerator. Compared to the fridges in Disney’s standard guest rooms, these are larger and hold more.

Copper Creek’s deluxe studio has a guest bath with a pocket door. The door doubles as a mirror on the opposite side. These things help save space and reflect light, giving the illusion that the area is larger.

The full bath is large, with a separate water closet for the toilet and shower. These setups tend to be more family-friendly. For example, one guest can use the vanity area while another can use the water closet simultaneously.

Adequate storage space is available in the bath area, as shown below. Remember to retrieve stored items before checking out.

Our guest bath had a tub and shower combination. Some of the deluxe studios come with a walk-in shower. You can make a special request if you have a specific need.

The closet in the foyer has plenty of space to hang clothing items. It also has an iron with an ironing board, extra pillows, and blankets. When you pull the sofa bed out, the linens will already be on the bed.

Lastly, an in-room wall safe is inside the closet.

For reference, the one-bedroom villa has a king bed and queen-size sleeper sofa. All of the one-bedroom and larger villas have a primary bedroom with a king-size bed. Most deluxe villas at Disney sleep up to five guests because they have a pull-out trundle bed for a small child. If you need a larger option, you might like one of these other villa reviews:

Cascade Cabins at Copper Creek

Now, about those cabins. The Copper Creek cabins are located on both sides of the Wilderness Lodge. There are 26 waterfront cabins, to be exact. Cabins 8001 through 8012 are located on the waterfront closest to the resort’s boat dock. While 8013 through 8026 are on the opposite resort. These cabins are located near the resort’s bus transportation.

The rustic, elegant design of the Cascade Cabins makes them extremely appealing to most guests. Not to mention the privacy provided and serene surroundings.

The cabins sleep up to 8 guests. Each has two bedrooms, a full kitchen, a main living area, and a wrap-around porch. As a bonus, each porch has a hot tub. Other amenities include a fireplace and a picnic table on the screened-in porch.

Who doesn’t want to stay in a cabin? As you can imagine, they are among the most expensive accommodations at Disney World. If you take a stroll through the area, you might notice some of the extras, like these deer footprints in the concrete.

Recreation

Guests of Copper Creek Villas have access to the resort’s amenities. Copper Creek Springs Pool sits almost immediately outside the main villas.

On my last visit, the pool hours were from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., but those hours mildly fluctuate depending on the time of year. For example, during the hotter months, the pools usually stay open until 11:00 p.m.

Several hot tubs are positioned around the pool area.

Additionally, the Boulder Ridge Cove pool is located down on the Boulder Ridge side of the resort. It features a zero-depth entry.

Those wanting to get a workout while on vacation can access the Sturdy Branches Health Club. The workout facilities at Disney are more than able to accommodate the same type of workout you’d normally get at the gym. Other amenities include boat rentals and guided fishing. These are an additional cost and sometimes require reservations. Check availability at Teton Boat and Bike Rental.

Copper Creek Villas guests also have access to a laundry room. It’s located on the resort’s fourth floor near the main elevator. Since all one-bedroom and larger units have a washer and dryer, only deluxe studio guests should need to use the laundry.

Dining

Copper Creek Villas guests have access to the restaurants at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. I’ll briefly discuss them below, but if you’re planning a stay here, make sure to read our resort restaurant guide. Additionally, we have individual reviews with photos of items we’ve tried at each location.

Roaring Fork is the resort’s counter-service dining location. It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can mobile order from Roaring Fork and enjoy one of the nice outdoor seating areas nearby, or you can pick up something and enjoy it in its indoor dining area. They have casual items like burgers, chicken nuggets, and sandwiches. However, they have a few special entrees that rival a table service. We have most of those items photographed in our dining review listed below.

Geyser Point Bar & Grill is an excellent stop for drinks or a meal. This restaurant sits on Bay Lake and doubles as the pool bar. It has a separate quick-service window toward the back of the pool where guests can order food or pick up mobile orders. The lounge area doesn’t take reservations, so seating is based on availability. Geyser Point is open for lunch and dinner. It’s one of our favorite hidden gem dining spots at Disney World.

Territory Lounge sits off the main lobby, adjacent to Artist Point. While this has the lounge name, it is a family-friendly establishment. The mushroom bisque, along with the rest of the place, is spectacular. This is one of our go-to locations when we need a quick meal in a relaxed environment that doesn’t require reservations.

Whispering Canyon Cafe is the main table-service dining location at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. It’s located in the main lobby and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Make sure to read our entire review below. This restaurant offers a few shenanigans along with the meal. We never plan a stay at the resort without having breakfast here at least once!

Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White is home to the character dining location for the Wilderness Lodge. You can read more about this location in our review. Characters at the meal include Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy, and the Evil Queen.
