Disney World’s Resort Hotel Refurbishment Schedule (2026-2027)
This page tracks the refurbishment schedule for the resort hotels at Disney World. At any given time, multiple resort hotels and villas could be undergoing maintenance, ranging from minor repairs to extensive remodels. These types of resort refurbishments could make or break your stay.
For instance, say your resort’s feature pool was closed for refurbishment during your trip dates. This could have a negative impact, especially if your idea of a vacation is spending a couple of afternoons relaxing poolside. Of course, most resorts have secondary pools, but they usually pale in comparison to a feature pool. On the flip side, if you don’t plan to use the pool, this downside might have little to no impact on your vacation. Either way, most guests will want to know what they’re up against.
Regarding pool refurbishments, it’s also worth noting that when one pool closes, the other pools get crowded. Generally, Disney completes most pool refurbishments in the cooler months. That said, if you have a small child and see that an aquatic play area will be closed during your trip, you might consider another resort.
Another example is staying at a resort undergoing a significant remodel. For instance, do you want to stay at a hotel where loud construction begins at 9:00 a.m.? If you enjoy sleeping late, the answer is probably no. However, it might not be a big deal if you plan to arrive at the parks early every morning.
Naturally, not all of these refurbishments are dealbreakers. You’ll need to weigh the importance of each item for yourself. Overall, I would ask myself whether the resort is still worth the expense, given the refurbishment taking place. If not, this might be an excellent time to consider an alternative.
Before we get to the actual list of refurbishments, there is one other thing worth clarifying. Not all refurbishments are posted online. All resorts are constantly undergoing maintenance, whether it be minor repairs to a specific area, fresh paint, or the like. So if you’re walking through the grounds of your resort and see an area with “wet paint” signs, it doesn’t mean that your resort is undergoing a refurbishment. As you can imagine, most properties of this magnitude require constant attention and maintenance.
Disney Resort Hotel Refurbishments
This list contains resort refurbishments announced for Walt Disney World. We update this article to include new announcements and other work that we notice during our resort visits.
Skyliner Refurbishment Notice
The Skyliner typically closes for refurbishment at some point in January. Here is the official announcement for 2027.
“From January 24, 2027, through January 30, 2027, Disney Skyliner will be closed for refurbishment. Complimentary bus service will be available.“

The following resorts will be directly affected by the Disney Skyliner’s yearly refurbishment in 2027.
- Disney’s Pop Century
- Disney’s Art of Animation
- Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- Disney’s Riviera Resort
The following Epcot Resorts are also within walking distance of the Skyliner and are considered indirectly affected by the refurbishment: Disney’s Beach Club, Yacht Club, BoardWalk, Swan, and Dolphin.

The following refurbishment notices are posted for Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort:
Room Refurbishment
Disney has announced that the rooms at Disney’s All-Star Movies will undergo a room refurbishment. Here is the official announcement:
“Beginning late May 2026, the rooms at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will undergo planned refurbishment through the end of January 2027. During this time, Guests may see or hear construction work in the area, and alternate paths of travel may be in place.”

Gift Shop Refurbishment
“Beginning in May 2026, refurbishment work will take place at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. Donald’s Double Feature merchandise shop will undergo a phased refurbishment through late August and will remain open during this work.”

Animal Kingdom Lodge
The following notices are posted for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Room Refurbishment:
A complete room refurbishment is expected to begin at Jambo House in May of 2026 and last through January 2027. Here is the official announcement from Disney.
“From October 2025 through May 2026, Guest rooms at Kidani Village* at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will undergo refurbishment, followed by refurbishment work at Jambo House from May 2026 through January 2027. During these times, Guests may see or hear construction work in the area. All amenities will remain available throughout the refurbishment.“

Kidani Village
The following refurbishment notices are posted for Kidani Village.
“Beginning Aug. 17, the lobby and nearby areas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village will undergo refurbishment in phases. The work is expected to be completed in early Nov. Closures will take place in phases:
- Aug. 17–Oct. 9: The main lobby and primary entrance will be closed. During this time, check-in will move to the Palace Library.
- Aug. 17–28: Johari Treasures will be closed.
- Sept. 28–Oct. 9: The north side lobby corridor will be closed. During this time, the north side lobby elevators on the second floor and outdoor terrace observation deck will be unavailable.
- Oct. 26–Nov. 6: The south side lobby corridor will be closed. During this time, Community Hall, Safari So Good Arcade, the laundry room, the Palace Library, lobby restrooms and outdoor terrace observation deck will be unavailable.
Guests may see or hear construction activity in the lobby area during daytime hours, including periods of more noticeable noise, until the work is complete. “

Beach Club Resort

“Disney’s Beach Club Resort is undergoing visible exterior maintenance through late 2027, which impacts views from various locations across the Resort hotel and—at times—requires alternate paths of travel. Guests may see or hear work in the area during daytime hours until the refurbishment is complete.”

Friendship Boat Dock Closures
“From August 17-21, 2026, the FriendShip Boat dock at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort will be closed for maintenance. During this closure, there will be direct bus transportation available to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests visiting EPCOT will be able to use walkways from Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort to the EPCOT International Gateway.”

BoardWalk Resort

Refurbishment General
“Now through late 2026, refurbishment work will take place in select areas of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. While Guests may see or hear work during daytime hours, most Resort amenities—including dining, recreation, and merchandise locations—will remain available.“

In case you missed it, Disney announced several new additions to the Boardwalk that are expected to open by late 2026. The announcement also mentioned that a new quick-service restaurant is coming to Disney’s BoardWalk. More details to be announced at a later date.
Pool Maintenance
“From January 11, 2027, through April 2027, the Luna Park Pool, the Luna Park Crazy Play Area, and Leaping Horse Libations at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas will be closed for routine maintenance. Guests may see and hear work taking place during daytime hours. However, the Villas Pool and the Inn Pool will remain open for Guests to enjoy.”

Contemporary Resort
An updated resort refurbishment notice has been posted for Disney’s Contemporary Resort, extending it into 2027. See the latest announcement below that combines all notices to date.
“Through late 2027, refurbishment work will occur in phases throughout select areas of Disney’s Contemporary Resort—including Bay Lake Tower and the Main Tower atrium. Additionally, Main Tower exterior maintenance may impact views from various locations throughout the Resort hotel and, at times, require alternate paths of travel. Guests may see or hear construction during daytime hours.”

Coronado Springs Resort
The following notice is posted for Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
“From August 10, 2026, through late September 2027, the Convention Center at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will undergo a planned refurbishment. The El Centro Corridor and surrounding areas will also undergo a refurbishment tied to this work.
Work will be completed in phases, with individual spaces being temporarily inaccessible at times. The work will take place overnight to help minimize impacts to daily operations. During this time, Guests may see or hear construction activity in the area. “

Lakeshore Lodge
A new resort, Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, is being constructed along the shoreline between Disney’s Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge. It is expected to open in 2027.
Fort Wilderness
The following notices are posted for Fort Wilderness.
The Cabins at Fort Wilderness
“Through mid-October, soil erosion prevention work will be taking place along the sidewalk on Big Pine Trail. At times, alternate paths of travel may be in place for Guests due to roadway detours. No resort amenities will be impacted by this work, but please be aware that you may see or hear construction activity in the area during business hours.”
Grand Floridian
The following notices are posted for Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

“Additionally, Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is temporarily closed for renovations through October 2026. Views from some rooms overlooking the golf course may be impacted until the work is complete.”
Polynesian Village

“Through late 2026, some areas of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are being refurbished. Saratoga Springs
The following notices are posted.
“Now through Fall 2026, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will have areas under refurbishment, including the Porte Cochere (covered arrival area) and Treehouse Villas. Guests may see or hear construction activity during daytime hours. During the refurbishment, the following areas will be temporarily closed:
- The Turf Club Lounge: Closed from early May through late August 2026 (The Turf Club Bar & Grill will remain open during this time with a pop-up bar serving a modified menu.)
- The Turf Club Bar & Grill: Closed from late August through late September 2026 (The Turf Club Lounge will remain open during this time.)
Additionally, Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is temporarily closed for renovations through October 2026. The Golf Shop will remain open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During this time, Guests are welcome to enjoy Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course and Disney’s Palm Golf Course. As you can see, Disney’s refurbishment schedule is often extensive and continually ongoing. With this many resort hotels, constant refurbishment is inevitable. Although many amenities remain available at most resorts, guests can almost always expect some construction noise during the day.
