Disney World’s Resort Hotel Refurbishment Schedule (2026-2027)
At any given time, multiple resorts, hotels, and villas at Walt Disney World are undergoing refurbishment. Refurbishments can range from major construction to minor items such as a brief pool closure. Below, we’ve listed the scheduled resort refurbishments.
Resort refurbishments could make or break your stay. For instance, if the resort’s feature pool was closed, you might miss out on one of the resort’s best amenities. Likewise, if you don’t mind dealing with a little extra construction, you might be able to secure a discounted rate.
Intro
Those planning an upcoming stay will likely want to consider the refurbishments listed below. For instance, do you want to stay at a hotel where loud construction begins at 9:00 a.m.? If you enjoy sleeping late, the answer is probably no. However, a little noise might not be a big deal if you plan to arrive at the parks early every morning.
Another consideration is whether you’ll spend time at the pool. When one pool closes for refurbishment, the other pools at the resort get crowded. Generally, Disney completes most pool refurbishments in the cooler months. That said, if you have a small child and see that an aquatic play area will be closed during your trip, you might consider another resort.
Of course, not all of these refurbishments are dealbreakers. You’ll need to weigh the importance of each item for yourself. Overall, I would ask myself whether the resort is still worth the expense, given the refurbishment taking place. If not, this might be an excellent time to consider an alternative.

This list contains resort refurbishments announced for Walt Disney World. We update this article to include new announcements and other work that we notice during our resort visits.
Skyliner Refurbishment Notice
The following resorts will be directly affected by the Disney Skyliner’s yearly refurbishment in 2027.
- Disney’s Pop Century
- Disney’s Art of Animation
- Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- Disney’s Riviera Resort
The following Epcot Resorts are also within walking distance of the Skyliner and are considered indirectly affected by the refurbishment: Disney’s Beach Club, Yacht Club, BoardWalk, Swan, and Dolphin.
2027 Skyliner Closure:
From January 24, 2027, through January 30, 2027, Disney Skyliner will be closed for refurbishment. Complimentary bus service will be available.

All-Star Movies
Disney has announced that the rooms at Disney’s All-Star Movies will undergo a room refurbishment.
Beginning late May 2026, the rooms at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will undergo planned refurbishment through the end of January 2027. During this time, Guests may see or hear construction work in the area, and alternate paths of travel may be in place.

Beginning in May 2026, refurbishment work will take place at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. Donald’s Double Feature merchandise shop will undergo a phased refurbishment through late August and will remain open during this work.

Animal Kingdom Lodge
A complete room refurbishment is expected to begin at Jambo House in May of 2026 and last through January 2027. Here is the official announcement from Disney.
From October 2025 through May 2026, Guest rooms at Kidani Village at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will undergo refurbishment, followed by refurbishment work at Jambo House from May 2026 through January 2027. During these times, Guests may see or hear construction work in the area. All amenities will remain available throughout the refurbishment.

Kidani Village
The room refurbishment at Kidani Village is complete as of May 2026.
Art of Animation
No notices are posted at this time except for the Skyliner Closure in 2027 that we noted above.
While not official yet, a room refurbishment is expected to be announced for Disney’s Art of Animation in the near future.
Beach Club Resort
The following notices are posted for Disney’s Beach Club and Beach Club Villas.
Disney’s Beach Club Resort is undergoing visible exterior maintenance through late 2027, which impacts views from various locations across the Resort hotel and—at times—requires alternate paths of travel. Guests may see or hear work in the area during daytime hours until the refurbishment is complete.

BoardWalk Resort

Refurbishment General
Now through late 2026, refurbishment work will take place in select areas of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. While Guests may see or hear work during daytime hours, most Resort amenities—including dining, recreation, and merchandise locations—will remain available.

Pool Maintenance
From January 11, 2027, through April 2027, the Luna Park Pool, the Luna Park Crazy Play Area, and Leaping Horse Libations at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas will be closed for routine maintenance. Guests may see and hear work taking place during daytime hours. However, the Villas Pool and the Inn Pool will remain open for Guests to enjoy.

An updated resort refurbishment notice has been posted for Disney’s Contemporary Resort, extending it into 2027. See the latest announcement below that combines all notices to date.
Refurbishments will occur in phases throughout select areas of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, including the atrium and Bay Lake Tower. Guests may also see and hear construction during their stay.

Bay Lake Tower
The following notice is for Bay Lake Tower, which sits adjacent to Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

The Main Tower will undergo exterior maintenance beginning March 23, 2026, which may impact views from various locations throughout the resort and, at times, require alternate paths of travel. Lakeshore Lodge
A new resort, Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, is being constructed along the shoreline between Disney’s Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge. It is expected to open in 2027.

As part of this work, from mid-July through October 2026, Grand Floridian Cafe will temporarily close for a refresh. All other dining locations at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will remain available for Guests to enjoy. Polynesian Village
The following refurbishment notice is posted for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
From May 2025 through 2026, some areas of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are being refurbished. This work includes the reconfiguration of the front entrance roadway and bus area. While construction activity will be noticeable during daytime hours, efforts will be made to minimize disruptions. All Resort dining, pools, and amenities will remain available. Additionally, some views of the theme parks and other surrounding areas may be impacted. Please allow for extra travel time when arriving at or leaving the Resort.

From mid‑April through late June, Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be temporarily closed due to refurbishment work at the Grand Ceremonial House. Guests may see or hear refurbishment work during daytime hours until the work is complete.

From April 23 through late June, updates will be made to the exterior roofing at Wailulu Bar & Grill in the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Wailulu Bar & Grill will remain open for service during the work. Each day from open until 5 p.m., the bar will offer walk-up service only, and seating will be unavailable. Seating will resume from 5 p.m. to close. While construction activity will be noticeable during daytime hours, efforts will be made to minimize disruptions.

Boat Dock Work Extended
From April 13 through late July 2026, the boat dock at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will undergo routine maintenance. The dock will be closed and boat transportation temporarily suspended from April 13 to May 1.

Exterior Work Extended
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are undergoing exterior refurbishment through late 2026. As part of this work, the security kiosk will be expanded from late March through mid-October. The entrance will remain open, though lane closures may occur at times. Most amenities will remain available, but Guests may notice impacted views in some areas and see or hear construction during daytime hours.
